Main differences between MC4 and MC4 Evo:
- Voltage: The MC4-Evo 2 has a higher rated voltage of 1500 V DC, compared to the MC4’s 1000 V DC. This makes the MC4-Evo 2 suitable for larger, higher-voltage commercial solar installations.
- Current: The MC4-Evo 2 can handle a higher maximum current, especially with larger cable sizes. For example, with a 10mm² cable, the MC4-Evo 2 is rated for up to 69A, whereas the MC4 is rated for up to 45A (or 104A in some specific models).
- Surge Voltage: The MC4-Evo 2 has a higher rated surge voltage of 16 kV, compared to the MC4’s 12 kV.
